About
Thirty-one years, and still family-run.
A restored 1727 Georgian house, a walled garden, a kitchen with two AA Rosettes, and eleven rooms we’re proud to share.
Our Story
Georgian bones, modern heart. Built 1727. In family hands since 1995.
Ghan House is one of the oldest private houses of its type still standing in Ireland. Its Georgian bones were already 270 years old when we opened as a country house hotel in 1995. Thirty-one years in, we’re still family-run, still cooking seasonally, still answering the phone ourselves.
The house sits inside its own three-acre walled garden, with a further eight acres of stables and horse fields beyond the wall. Medieval Carlingford is a forty-five-second walk from the front door; Slieve Foy, Carlingford Lough and the Mourne mountains fill the views from every bedroom.

Sustainability
Quiet, considered, renewable.
Ghan house runs on renewable electricity and the kitchen buys from Irish growers: because it’s the right way.
Heated by two air-source heat pumps on 100% renewable electricity. Two EV Type 2 chargers on site. Gardens and Irish producers feed the kitchen in season.
